On 17th January 1950 a Detached Flight was formed at Hawesdown School in West Wickham, but this was closed the following year.
A band was formed on 18th January 1944,
with nine trumpets, one large drum and
three side drums. In 1960, and again
in 1962, the Squadron band – which
consisted of a full brass section with
15 cadets and a drum corps of 12 cadets,
was selected to play at the Royal Tournament.
The Squadron has always been particularly successful at shooting. It has won the Frankfort Shield, the Lady Mitchell Cup, the Watts Bowl, the Farrell Cup, the Patriotic Shield, the Fellowes Trophy (1953, 1954 and 1956), the Canberra Trophy, the London & Middlesex Schools meeting, the Worf Trophy, the Stubbs Trophy, the Earl Roberts Shield (1969 & 1984) and the Men of Kent-Kentish Men Trophy. More than sixty cadets have qualified for their cadet 100 award.
